ALANIS SANTIAGO VS NORA NAOMI SCHULTZ
The unstoppable force that is No-Gi purple belt, double world champion, Nora Naomi Schultz collides against Unity Jiu Jitsu’s immovable standout, Alanis Coral Santiago.
The phenom, Schultz. Fresh from steam rolling all who opposed her at the IBJJF world championships via submission and with a training camp at Craig Jones’s legendary B Team academy in Texas under her belt enters the Battleground for the second time.
Alanis Santiago might have other plans for her Battleground debut. With her mind set on dethroning Schultz and with a stellar competitive background to back it up, Santiago brings the combined savagery and technical mastery you would expect from an elite-level student of Unity Jiu Jitsu.
Will the formidable queen claim yet another victim with her relentless pressure, immense energy, and killer instinct? Or will Santiago prove herself to be the ultimate challenge and attain the Battleground female top rank?
Witness as these two face off in a 20min sub only battle to assert their dominance.
LEVI JONES-LEARY VS PABLO TORREALBA
Our co-main event pits one of WA grappling’s favourite sons, Pablo Dario Torrealba against the Sydney born, Levi Jones-Leary AKA Xanadu.
This will be the biggest competitive grappling match ever held on Western Australia soil.
Torrealba has passed through the fires of Battleground Gi competition against some of the finest grappling talents in Australia. First earning a stellar submission win in a back-and-forth masterclass of technical Jiu Jitsu against Igor Martins at Battleground 1, before meeting his match in the Gi at Battleground 2, against the best Australian raised Gi grappler in William Dias.
Torrealba is undefeated in No-Gi at 77 kilos and has come out on top against some of the best talent there is down under in grappling and MMA. The wizard of Scrappy MMA has never shirked a challenge, a statement that can be undisputedly proven when we consider exactly who his opponent is at Battleground 3.
Levi Jones-Leary needs no introduction, one of the finest Jiu Jitsu talents of our generation and up there with Marmite and Neighbour’s as one of Australia’s best exports, Xanadu isn’t here to take part, he is here to take over.
An instructor at the world-renowned Unity Jiu Jitsu and Absolute MMA, Jones-Leary’s achievement list is longer than the Sydney Harbour Bridge and is only matched by his dedication to his profession.
Jones-Leary has been involved professionally in Jiu Jitsu since the age of 15, his dream was to train with the legendary Miyao brothers and his now coach, Murillo Santana. He made this dream a reality in 2015 by going to extraordinary lengths… he hasn’t looked back since.
Now one of the most respected names in the sport, Levi Jones-Leary returns to Australia and enters the Battleground to showcase his talent in his home country on the biggest platform and to remind everyone why he was the first Australian to win a major IBJJF tournament at black belt and the first to ever to be ranked number 1 in the sport!
Will Torrealba shock the world and remain undefeated in No-Gi competition? Or will the Xanadu emerge victorious yet again?
The answer to these questions and many more will be revealed on March 11 at 3pm sharp. ⏰
We will see you on the Battleground.
